I Designed These Shoes to Climb North Africa's Highest Mountain. Then We Built a Brand Around Them.
Toubkal Footwear didn't start in an office. It started on a mountain.
High in Morocco's Atlas Mountains stands Jbel Toubkal, 4,167 metres tall. I wanted to climb it in a shoe that let my feet move the way nature intended. That shoe didn't exist, so I designed it, and walked all the way up in it. This is our story.
1. I Designed a Shoe for One Mountain
When I decided to climb Jbel Toubkal, I didn't want heavy, stiff boots that squeeze your toes and stop your feet from doing their job. I wanted something that let me feel the mountain while still protecting my feet.
I couldn't find the shoe I had in mind. So I designed it myself: room for the toes to spread, a thin and flexible sole, a flat zero-drop platform and grip for the rocky paths.
2. Then I Walked Toubkal in Them
Toubkal rises 4,167 metres above Morocco, the highest point in all of North Africa. The trail takes you through mountain villages, over rock and loose gravel, up steep paths towards the summit.
I walked it, step by step, in the shoes I had designed for it. And I reached the top.
3. That's When We Knew
Standing on that mountain, one thought kept coming back: if these shoes can take me up North Africa's highest peak, imagine what they can do for everyday life.
That was the moment we decided to start this brand, and to name it after the mountain where it all began. Toubkal Footwear was born on the trail.
4. Freedom Starts at Your Toes
In the villages at the foot of Toubkal, walking is simply part of life. It reminded us of something modern shoes make us forget: our feet were built to move, to spread, flex and balance on their own.
That's why every Toubkal shoe keeps the same principles as that very first pair:
β A wide, foot-shaped toe box so your toes can spread naturally.
β A thin, flexible sole that bends with your foot and lets you feel the ground.
β A zero-drop platform that keeps heel and toes level, like standing barefoot.
β Lightweight materials so you can walk longer with less effort.
5. Made for Real Life, Not Just Summits
You don't need to climb a mountain to deserve comfortable feet. Our shoes are made for morning walks, long days at work, travelling, gardening and chasing after grandchildren.
Whether you're 25 or 75, your feet carry you through everything. They deserve room to breathe, move and feel good again.
β β β β ββSuper lightweight and comfortable from the first wear. My toes finally have enough room to move naturally, and I can walk for hours without that cramped feeling.β

6. Slow and Steady Wins the Climb
On the trail to Toubkal, the mules that carry supplies up the mountain never rush, yet they always arrive. Switching to barefoot shoes works the same way.
If you've worn cushioned, narrow shoes for years, give your feet time. Start with a few hours a day and build up gradually. Your feet will thank you.
7. Our Promise to You
We want you to try Toubkal without any worry. That's why every order comes with:
β Free worldwide shipping
β A 30-day money-back guarantee
β Friendly support from real people at support@toubkal-footwear.com

Toubkal started with one pair of shoes and one mountain. Today, we'd love for it to be part of your path too.
